Low Back Health: A Six-Week Online Series
Low back pain is one of the most common — and most misunderstood — conditions that yoga teachers and movement professionals encounter. This six-week live online series goes beyond generic "low back yoga" to give you a clinically informed, functionally grounded framework for understanding why backs hurt and what actually helps.
Drawing from Robin's Essential Low Back Pain (ELBP) training, each session targets a specific root cause of low back dysfunction, so you leave with practical tools you can apply immediately — whether you're supporting students in class, working one-on-one, or managing your own back health.
Course Outcomes
By the end of this series, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the role of breath in low back pain and use functional breathing cues to restore neutral pelvis and reduce protective tension
- Distinguish hypo-mobile from hyper-mobile presentations and adapt movement approaches accordingly — avoiding the common mistake of stretching what should be stabilized
- Identify sacroiliac (SI) dysfunction and understand how hypermobility patterns differ from stiffness-based pain, with appropriate interventions for each
- Assess and address pelvic imbalance as a contributing factor to chronic or recurring low back complaints
- Develop a framework for understanding scoliosis — understanding its structural and functional dimensions and how to safely modify movement for affected individuals
- Know when to refer — develop a clear clinical lens for recognizing presentations that require medical evaluation, and how to communicate effectively with healthcare providers
