What People Are Saying:

I really enjoyed the Memory Maintenance Yoga teacher training! It made me realize more fully, how EXCELLENT yoga is as a lifelong practice that can take us through youth to old age. I appreciated the short practice bits that can be incorporated by anyone—even “non-yogis” I liked all the different breathing and asana practices and how they are relevant to the aging mind/body. My favorite element was the practice library. It was nice to see how others teach as well as being a student in a virtual class. I would definitely recommend this program to others.

I cannot begin to express the excitement I have about the Memory Maintenance Online Yoga Teacher Training. I enjoyed learning about the specific brain functions, the science of yoga, and the different aspects & techniques of memory maintenance yoga and their benefits. I’ve been incorporating cross lateral movements into my regular yoga classes. I learned it’s never too early to start to retrain the brain and begin forming new neural pathways. Honestly, I think the Kirtan Kriya was my favorite portion of the course. I’d never explored it before, believe it or not! I love your energy David, especially when teaching us the Brain games! I will for certain recommend this course to others, without a doubt! This course was so much more than I expected: It has offered me a whole new framework for me to use while teaching classes. I’d been drawn to the “baby boomer” demographic (I’m one of them!) and this is just what I was hoping to find to add to my repertoire for my targeted audience. I am SO thrilled I took the time and decided to enroll. It certainly has been an eye-opener for me. Again, David and Liz, I thank you for all your energy, time and considerations in this process of putting the course together. It's amazing and I'm certain it will be a huge success. I love it! Completely love it! In appreciation & gratitude.

The Memory Maintenance Online Yoga Teacher Training showed me a new perspective-- a different way of looking at the possibilities to meet the needs of those of the Wisdom Years as well as those wishing a high quality of life, wanting to assure themselves of good brain health throughout all their years. It also taught me many new skills, information, ideas, exercises! The community was really fun too. I am incorporating brain games, Kirtan Kriya, cross lateral movement into my teaching. I have already been teaching Yoga Nidra and I am happy to know more of its value based on scientific research. This course caused new inspirations to arise for me, with the knowledge of the tremendous benefit to the health of this most important organ, our brain! The Memory Maintenance Yoga Teacher Training Program is bringing more to the yoga community and it is an important path to follow. This new program is very exciting! My most favorite elements were the study of Mudra, Yoga Nidra, brain games, and cross-lateral movements. The brain games are so stimulating, and I can feel the positive response in my brain almost immediately. I love Yoga Nidra and enjoyed enhancing what I already know in this realm. Cross lateral movements, like brain games, makes so much sense in regard to brain health…I just really love it! I will definitely be recommending this program to other teachers. Thank you, Liz and David, for this most excellent course! I will miss you both and all the others.

This program was amazing. The course information was current from professionals who are “cutting edge” in this field. I have incorporated numerous things from this training into my classes – not just the ones for seniors, but also my younger folks. Every time I learn something, my students are thrilled for me to share it with them. We have had even more fun and laughter in class since I took the Memory Maintenance YTT! I loved the brain games, and the somatics (which has always been a favorite of mine). There was such a nice melding of different yoga techniques offered in a non-threatening manner (thank you, Liz!). I truly appreciate your acceptance & non-judgmental attitude toward other schools of training. I absolutely loved the online learning format and all the videos on vimeo – what a labor of love to put these together! Liz and David have created a program that includes online videos (you can watch on your own time schedule), a Facebook group (just for us), appropriate homework assignments (to do according to your schedule), a weekly face-to-face Zoom meeting (recorded so we can view it any time), pdf files for hard copy, and they got back to everyone immediately when there was a question or problem. Due dates are “open-ended,” we can always access the materials, and we have 20 hours of CECs for Yoga Alliance when everything is complete. Yes, I would absolutely recommend the Memory maintenance Yoga Teacher Training to others!

I loved how comprehensive this training was, and how detailed both David and Liz were in their teachings and lectures. I really enjoyed learning about all of the brain soundbites we could add to any type of class that we teach as yoga teachers. Brain health is important in every class that we teach. I feel more confident to teach about the brain, and how important it is to include brain soundbites into the classes I teach. I also feel that after taking Memory Maintenance Yoga Teacher Training I practice with more attention to cross-hemisphere communication and how I perceive the cueing from my teachers in relation to my practice. I feel an increased cognitive awareness not only when I am deep into my asana practice, but throughout my day from the connection of my practice and from learning more about the importance of brain health. I really enjoyed when Liz shared the 7 elements and broke them down. I refer to them and her eloquent way of sharing them when creating a sequence. I also really enjoyed all of the GREAT videos both David and Liz shared. They were full of valuable information that empowered me in this training to step out of my comfort zone in teaching Memory Maintenance Yoga. I would highly recommend this program to anybody wanting to learn more about brain health as a yoga teacher, health care facilitator, program director, and anyone that is interested in learning how to improve their brain health! I love the overall concept of Memory Maintenance, and how to empower students with important knowledge for their overall health. I have gained a new level of confidence from this valuable training course and could not recommend this training more to any teacher wanting to grow their knowledge of brain health!

I just wanted to express my appreciation and gratitude for our instructors. I have taken dozens of courses since I became an RYT five years ago and I took hundreds of CEU credits when I was a school teacher. I have never been given so much value in such a short course. The online Memory Maintenance Yoga Teacher Training featured great information, was well thought through, and offered a good mix of the practical and theoretical. Additionally, it was taught by teachers (David and Liz) who clearly really cared about the subject and the students. What more can you ask for in a program? From day one I began implementing the Memory Maintenance yoga tools and techniques into my own practice and my teaching. I loved watching the videos with all the practical useful asanas, tips, and explanations. The Zoom meetings were great. I will take many more with Soma Institute and will recommend you everywhere I go! Off to teach and demonstrate some of my new learnings.

I was thrilled with the expertise and knowledge we were exposed to by Liz and David during each component of the Memory Maintenance Yoga Teacher Training Online Program, in each week’s lectures, videos and practice library! I really appreciated the 7 Elements as the foundation in sequencing a class, as well as the practice library, which provided an incredible amount of knowledge and guidance that I am now able to share with my students. My teaching focus and techniques changed after just one week of the training. Prior to this training, I had completed my 200-hour in 2009 and then 5 additional trainings and certifications with an emphasis on the senior population. Although my classes incorporated the majority of the 7 Elements, my class focus was on the heart and the body. The 7 Elements, 4 Pillars of Prevention, and the Sound Bites made it so clear that my teaching would be inclusive of the heart, body, and the brain as one entity keeping our bodies alive. The live-calls were great because I loved that this online training had one day each week to connect as a community. I would absolutely train again with Soma Yoga Institute! Additionally, I have already forwarded the Soma Website and MMY training information to a number of my colleagues. This training has impacted the way I am now teaching my classes, which of course provides invaluable benefits to my students.
